About MeMy name is Talia Elazar and I am an Accounting and Information Systems double major at the University of Maryland, College Park. I have lived in Germantown, Maryland since I was born, but I love to travel and hope to explore and potentially reside in various countries throughout the course of my life. Along with seeing the world, some of my other personal aspirations include supporting animal populations and giving back to the community in any way I can.

Media, Self and SocietyI joined the Media, Self and Society Scholars program due to the continuously growing presence and significance of media in a myriad of different sectors in current society. Media studies pertain to every field from politics, to economics, to journalism, and it is this ubiquity that drew me to the program. I aim to attain an understanding of media’s universal impact, as well as a sense of perspective regarding how media is influenced by consumers while simultaneously acting as an influencer itself.

My College ExperienceIn the remainder of my time at the University of Maryland, I strive to grow academically, professionally, socially, and personally. I am already taking steps to accomplish this through my engagement in a multitude of programs and organizations on campus, such as College Park Scholars, Delta Sigma Pi Professional Fraternity, Terps for Change, and the Women in Business Association. Additionally, I am working as a Volunteer Management Intern for Vikara Village. These involvements encourage and support the growth that I am eager to experience, and I am excited to see what other opportunities will arise in the next few years. Upon graduation, I would love to work in the field of accounting due to my interest in measuring and communicating financial transactions.
